The Onion Project intends to be flexible in its interventions with children and young people. These interventions can take place wherever the child or young person feels comfortable, be that in a educational environment, out in the community, at home or even driving around in the car!

These interventions initially start with relationship building, creating a rapport and allowing trust to grow.

The lived experiences of many young people can be complex and ingrained. We recognise the importance of responding to this so the length of our intereventions vary. Progress and outcomes will be monitored. Our support will be systematically reviewed alongside the referrer and key professionals.

We take a trauma informed approach in all that we do and our interventions will be holistic, considering Adverse Childhood Experiences, neurodevelopmental stages and most importantly, we will listen to the voice of the young person.

We will take their voice and ensure that we appropriately advocate for the provision they need to thrive, empowering them to develop confidence, resilience & positivity.

What We do

Services Offered

Due to being a small and personable service, we are flexible in what we can offer. Requests will be considered and discussed with those requesting our services. However, below are some aspects of our work. Please contact us for prices.

School Workshops

The Onion Project can come to you and deliver workshops with small groups, form groups or even whole year groups.

Example subjects include; online safety, types of exploitation, knife crime, drugs, positive masculinity, healthy relationships, harmful sexual behaviour, sexual health & consent, and County Lines.

Our workshops are not just for children and young people...

We can come share our expertise with adults too. We have workshops available for parents, carers & professionals.

Consultancy

The Onion Project will empower you to deliver a tailor made package of support to the child or young person that you already have an established, trusting relationship with.

We will aim to create a shared understanding of the young persons experiences and provide you with the information and resources you need to enable them to fulfil their true potential and live free from exploitation.

Diversionary Activities

We are lucky enough to live in a beautiful part of the UK but we often find children and young people do not have the opportunity to access the wealth of experiences available to them.

The Onion Project can open doors to activities, education and experiences through our extensive links with local providers and our passion for the the great outdoors.

When young people are being groomed or exploited, we need to work hard to find a 'pull' in the opposite direction, we can do this by offering opportunity and igniting a new passion.

1:1 Interventions

We can provide direct, specialist support to children and young people who are at risk of being exploited or who are currently experiencing exploitation.

This offer will look different for every young person as it is needs led, child/young person centred.

Please contact us to discuss this option further.

Links and Activities

See our links below to partners we have joined up with to offer help, support and opportunities. More to come in the near future.
